Tuba and Sousaphone.
As a performer, he is equally at home in the worlds of improvised and classical music. He plays sousaphone in Doolally Tap - a New Orleans outfit he co-founded with trombonist David Lalljee, who are regulars on the London jazz scene. Recent performances have included playing at the world premiere of the film Dermophoria as part of the East End Film Festival, playing for the annual celebrations at the Honorable Artillery Company, as well as regular appearances at jazz clubs and speakeasies such as The Candlelight Club, White Mink, The Ditch, The Nightjar and Wilton's Music Hall. He has freelanced with many other jazz bands across the UK including Palace Avenue Swing, Shirt Tail Stompers, Dixie Ticklers, Mardi Gras Jazz Band, the Stackyard Stompers and the Mississippi Swamp Dogs. More recently he has also ventured into the world of Balkan Brass. He has regularly played tuba for the Trans-Siberian March Band including for their highly acclaimed collaboration with DJ Yoda that toured numerous UK festivals. His classical playing includes both live and session work, solo, chamber brass ensemble, orchestral, opera, symphonic wind ensemble and brass bands.

Tom is a highly experienced sight reader and is well accustomed to studio session playing with a click. His recent session recording work has included new pieces from composer Adrian Sutton, Rob Kelly and Lincoln Grounds, tracks for Audio Network, playing tuba and percussion for Ruth Barratt for BBC Drama "Remember Me" featuring Michael Palin, and for the recording of Dan Locklair's Gloria for Convivium Records. Tom has also recorded a session playing a selection of brass from antiquity, including Roman cornu and salpinx, Celtic carnyx and an almost four metre long Tibetan horn.
