Tuba and Sousaphone.
As a performer, he is equally at home in the worlds of improvised and classical music. He plays sousaphone with Brass Rascals, a modern brass band playing RnB, Dancehall, DnB covers and originals in festivals and venues across the UK. Made up of some of London's finest jazz musicians, this ensemble also plays as an enlarged brass section for Rex Orange County on larger shows including his appearance at All Points East 26 and playing on his album The Alexander Technique
He also plays as part of a brass section working exclusively with touring rock and pop artists, last year headlining Bludfest and Rock Werchter with Yungblud
One of Tom's passions, and the original inspiration for his improvised playing, is the jazz from New Orleans and Chicago during the 1920s, and the later American early jazz revival of the 1940s. He regularly freelances playing this music, with regular collaborators including Louise Balkwill, Jonathan Bauer, Gav Broom and Jon Stokes and bands including, Alvar Tree Frogs, Rico Tomasso's 1920s Dance Orchestra, Palace Avenue Swing, Shirt Tail Stompers, Dixie Ticklers, and the Stackyard Stompers.
He has also ventured into the world of Balkan Brass. He has regularly played tuba for the Trans-Siberian March Band including for their highly acclaimed collaboration with DJ Yoda that toured numerous UK festivals. His classical playing includes both live and session work, solo, chamber brass ensemble, orchestral, opera, symphonic wind ensemble and brass bands.

Tom is a highly experienced sight reader and is well accustomed to studio session playing to click. His recent session recording work has included playing on Rex Orange County's album The Alexander Technique, as well as works from composers Adrian Sutton, Rob Kelly and Lincoln Grounds, tracks for Audio Network, and playing tuba and percussion in Chislehurst Caves for Ruth Barratt for BBC Drama "Remember Me" featuring Michael Palin, and for the recording of Dan Locklair's Gloria for Convivium Records.
